I would say that I am not a resolutions kind of girl. I would think of myself as more a goal kind of girl. What do I mean by that? Well, when I think of resolutions I think of a long list of wants and needs all bundled up into an uncompleteable mound of disappointment. No one likes disappointment, and with ADHD where disappointment can happen frequently, why set myself up for it. So at the end of every year, I like to think about the biggest goals that I believe I can attain, that could truly change how we live for the better.
I never thought of myself as having anxiety. I don’t get panic attacks, I’m not afraid of snakes or getting on stage, and isn’t that what signifies having anxiety? Actually that would be called an anxiety disorder. Having anxiety is actually very normal from time to time. Be it stress at work, medical emergencies, money or car problems, etc. All these are big issues anyone might have to deal with, and since they are out of the normal, it is completely normal for us to have anxiety while we are working through them. No matter how young or old you are, chores are just not fun. I do not know of anyone that cheers when they hear it is chore time, but the reality is that they do need to get done. With a family our size it takes everyone getting involved to help keep our house in order, or at least look presentable. Now this post is not about how to get your kids to do their chores. We can get into that another day. This is about why it is important to get your kids doing chores and how we can get past the dread of chores ourselves, so we can teach our kids.
In this day and age of more things going digital, it is so nice to get actual mail that isn’t junk. Sending out those Christmas cards however, is much less appealing. I love the idea of finally dropping them in the post office bin, but getting them ready to mail is just so overwhelming. So now that Christmas card season is here, how do I go from being overwhelmed with getting one card out to getting out a hundred?
It seems like just yesterday I was cleaning out our master bedroom and now here we are getting ready to decorate for Christmas. I love to feel the warmth of a fully decorated house for Christmas. It brings so much joy every time I pull up to our house. However, getting the house decorated is another story altogether.
