All kids need to burn off energy each day, but when you have kids with ADHD burning off energy seems never-ending. When winter hits and the temperature drops, or when Spring arrives and that chilly rain keeps you inside, finding things to keep the kids busy and happy can be challenging. As a Mom, it can be hard to think on your feet and find things to do so you don’t lose your mind. I have put together some ideas we find exciting here that should help you beat those boredom blues. Of course today is Homeschool Hop Wednesday, so check out some fellow blogger’s posts, at the end of this, for some more great ideas. Ideas for Keeping the Kids Entertained Pull out the […]
I woke up to my husband blurting a message out to me. Honestly, all I heard was gibberish at first. It took him a couple of times repeating the message before I actually heard the words clearly. School was closed today due to icy roads. “Ok” I said and rolled back over to try to get some rest. Yup, no luck. Of course, I was awake enough to have to pee. I stumbled down the stairs to the bathroom and stumbled back up them again. I crawled back in bed and was able to get a few more hours of sleep. When I did awake, for all day, real this time, I started thinking of all the things we could be doing. Snowball fight followed […]
I don’t know about you, but I am not a huge sports person. Granted I was a cheerleader way back when, but that seemed so much more exciting than just sitting on my couch watching professionals play. However, this time of year The Big Game is all the talk. I may not like to watch sports but my hubby sure does. So what is a girl to do when The Big Game hits? Give in and make the most of it. The Big Game can be fun, if you are willing to let go of your thoughts on sports and just enjoy the other parts to this sporting tradition. What parts you ask? The food, company, and advertisements. Company In our house, we have usually […]
Last night our two oldest kids headed out for Taekwondo practice with Daddy. I knew it would be a late night for them so our youngest and I settled in. I had already planned our dinner to be simple. Just pancakes and ham. No big deal, but this time it was just the little man and I. I went into his room and asked if he wanted to help me make the pancakes. He was so excited he came out with a smile from ear to ear asking what he could do first. Little did I know that cooking with him would not only give him a lesson on cooking and allow us time to bond but I would get a surprise in the end. […]
It had been a long 6 weeks that Hubby was gone to Texas for business training, but he is home now! Back to a full family transition has begun. The timing couldn’t of come at any a better time, with Thanksgiving right around the corner. While he was gone the kids and I had to take over the chores he normally would be doing. We did pretty well filling in the gaps from his absence however it is so good to have him home again! Getting back into the swing of things as a family has been a bit harder for Hubby. While he was gone, he had a maid cleaning up after him, a cook to prepare all his meals and a […]
It is hard to believe that our little squirt is now a not so little 15! He is enjoying school, playing guitar and most importantly, to him, is studying to take his driver’s permit test. That alone should make any parent realize that time is flying by. How did that happen? How did he get so old, so quick? If you ask, my kids will tell you “God let me.” Something we have talked about every since they were little. I would say something like. “How did you get so cute?” and they would reply “God let me.” One of the treasured memories I have of all my 3 kids. So besides the obvious of him studying to drive, he now fits into my husband’s […]
Family upon family have gone through the separation of family, for job related reasons. For some it could be college or trainings, others the military, some business meetings. No matter the reason the separation seems so much harder to handle when kids are involved. For us, this separation known well ahead of time, and something we kind of choose. See my hubby had the opportunity to change jobs in the government. With his new job came the knowledge that he would have to go away for 5 weeks to Dallas for training. An awesome adventure for him, but for the rest of us staying at home, um not so much. Knowing that this new job would be better for our family was reason enough to […]
Recently my hubby, James, just moved to a new department with the government. New department means, new job, new manager, new co-workers, and new building. The new building is what we all have been excited about. Yes, the new job, manager and co-workers are exciting and great, but the new building being half the distance from home. Now that is something to get excited about.
Our life has been beyond crazy lately. Lots of stress and tension has filled our house, but this past Saturday we were able to take a break from it all and do something fun together. Believe it or not, our kiddos have never been ice skating before. Yeah, I know, we live in what seems like a frozen tundra about half of the year so how could we have not tried this before? Sometimes what is right under our nose is what is the most easily missed.
The strangest, coolest, most awesome experience happened to us, the boys and I, around mid December. Something that gave us learning and enjoyment, in the most unexpected way. We had not started school yet. In fact, I was still in my pjs and bathrobe, on my computer preparing for our school day. I hear from downstairs “Mom, come quick!”. I rush down the stairs to get the story quickly retold by two kids at once.
