Sometimes the simple things are the things that give us the most joy. Today was a great example of this; a special day for Cody and I. We were able to head out, just the two of us, for some much-needed one on one time. Cody came up to me a week ago asking for some money, so he could buy our family Christmas presents. He really felt bad that he didn’t have anything to give everyone. We talked about how hard money is to earn, and that if he really wanted to buy presents for everyone, he would have to earn the money, just like Dad does. Christmas is for kids, is something I hear on the radio this time of the year. Ultimately, I think there is a lot of truth in that saying. I spend so much time planning, shopping, wrapping and cooking, all so the kids have a great Christmas. Yes, I want Christmas to be great for myself, but in reality I do most of the prep for our kids. It dawned on me this year that if Christmas Day is ultimately for the kids, then why are we making every December day leading up to Christmas about them too?
