By now you probably know that we love audio dramas in this household. Well, today I get to introduce you to another audio drama, Brinkman Adventures. I was lucky enough to receive Brinkman Adventures Season 4 for review and have been happily listening to the many, many episodes this season holds. Let me share with you what this season holds and how this audio drama can help your kids grow a missional heart. As a Christian, finding ways to help touch your child’s heart with the gospel can be challenging. It is always a wonderful surprise when we find new ways to do so at home that do not include worksheets or family devotions. While these are very helpful finding ways that bring the gospel […]
As a parent I am always trying to find ways to make the Bible come alive to my kids. It can be hard to get them interested in all the stories between the covers of the Bible when all the people we read about are just so much older, distant and seem almost unreal. Of course be believe that what is in the Bible is factual but believing and knowing is different than being able to really relate to the people. Having empathy is hard, and not just for kids. This is where fun-finds like M.J. Thomas’s works The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls from WorthyKids/Ideals come in. M.J. Thomas has written two books in The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series, so far. These […]
Captain Absolutely, a new book by Focus on the Family is for sure a keeper. When this book came up for review my 8-year-old son went crazy. The cover alone got him interested but to hear that this super, cool looking comic book would also teach some Bible truths got him hooked. At such a young age he really has a passion for following Christ. However, getting material for his age range that speaks to him can be a challenge. So besides his excitement, I was smiling knowing he would not just enjoy this book but be filled spiritually. So let’s dig into this review and see if this book might be something that would work for your family. As soon as the Captain Absolutely […]
I have to say that I LOVE being on the homeschool review crew this year. It is so fun to get a chance to check out so many different homeschool products for our family, and for all of you. With so many products to review, there are some that just stick out and say Yes, pick me, pick me. This next product, Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels” was one of those. I was so excited to get the chance to take a look at their new work of art, and it came at the perfect time, Lent. Now I get to share with you all what we thought of this series and how it could be a great help to your own family. […]
Given the title of this review, this is one I needed to hand over to hubby to handle. He worked with our boys through this kit and has written the review himself, for you. So, without further adieu, here is my Hubby’s review… My wife who is part of Homeschool Review Crew let me know about Manhood Journey Father’s Starter Kit by City on a Hill Studio. With being the father of three boys, I was obviously curious about it. I have been looking for the right product to help disciple my boys for a while. I have found the usual books and DVDs but the way that this was laid out, I was compelled. I am wary of Christian products in this […]
Today I am bringing you a review of the By The Way Book Series. Specifically, Smoky Mountains ~ Here We Come!. This is actually a pretty awesome review, but also an ironic one. Ironic that a Dyslexic homeschool Mom is reviewing a read-aloud book series. However, after reading through this review I believe you will see that the By The Way Book Series is not a traditional book series. It is more like a really fun textbook, and that is something any homeschool mom would be happy to know about. So, what is this series and why am I so excited about it? This series of books from By The Way is written for parents to be able to bring a Christian worldview […]
We are taking some time each week to focus on Getting into God’s Word. We have talked about devoting some time each day to God and how we make that time with God into a habit. We have talked about where to start reading and why starting in the Book of John is my first choice for anyone just starting to read the Bible regularly. Now that we have gone over all that, it is time to expand on our time with God. How do we expand on reading?
Where to start, where to start, where to start. That is the question that I think everyone who has picked up a Bible asks. There are so many books, and so many choices of where to start. So how do we get started? Is there one book that is better than the others to start with? Actually, yes, there is one book I always recommend to start with. Let me explain why.
Starting today, every Wednesday through January we will be digging into God’s Word. On the agenda for today, finding time. It amazes me how we are able to find time for T.V and trips to the store to buy lots of things we really don’t need, but when it comes to spending time in God’s word, we somehow come back with saying there just is not enough time in the day to make it happen. Don’t think I am not guilty of this, because I sure am. So how can we go from excuses to habit?
