Let me start by saying that I am by no way a decorator. I don’t even have the decorating itch or gift at all. It just isn’t my thing. So when I say that I have found something to help decorate, you know it has to be easy or I wouldn’t even be talking about it. So if you are like me and just don’t like decorating or if you are like a lot of my friends and have the decorating gift, this post will help you. I was lucky enough to be approached to review the company Canvas Factory. They gave me a coupon code to “purchase” one of their products(for free) and share with you all about them. Whenever anyone says the […]
I honestly don’t think you can truly wrap-up the challenges of living in a small space. Each day in and of itself is a challenge to keep it all together, but I wanted to take some time to wrap-up with some more ideas to help you keep trudging along. So far this month we have talked about purging in, Small Space, Big Challenges and Solutions. We talked about what to do with all that Winter Gear that seems to overtake the house in, Small Space, Big Challenges – Winter Gear. Last week we talked about how having a small space doesn’t have to affect your comfort or ability to homeschool with Small Space, Big Challenges – School Room. Obviously, that doesn’t cover all of what […]
When we first started homeschooling I had multiple big bookcases full of homeschooling supplies in our large dining room. There was a large white board on the wall and when company came over, there was no denying that we homeschooled. Family dinners were eaten around books, art supplies, toddler busy toys, and all while staring at a messy whiteboard. Sure I would clean it before company came and might even draw a cute little turkey on Thanksgiving but to be able to relax, not really. Since then we have moved a couple of times and have had a dedicated homeschool space. However, in this home, that just is not possible. So, our living room is also our school room. If you have been […]
This is the second post in our small space series. If you missed the first one, Small Space Big Challenges and Solutions , check it out as it talked all about purging to enjoy the space you have more. Today, we are going to go into how to handle all that winter gear when space is limited. Every place we have lived in, we have had a small entry way. Not sure how that has happened but it is what it is. In our current house, our entry way is also our dinning area. I won’t say room because it is more of a corner in a walkway. We also do not have a closet. Seriously, no entry closet. Actually almost no closets at […]
I am not a designer. The idea of pulling colors and objects together to make a room feel warm, cozy, or any other feeling is just not my gifting. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE great design, I just don’t know how to pull it off…most of the time. Our bathroom/laundry room has always been a pretty dark place. There are no windows in this room, which means no natural sunlight. On top of that it is on the side of the house that gets the least amount of sun inside, so not even a bit of the natural light from the adjoining room filters in to it. Knowing this, when we moved in I painted the room a nice yellow hoping to brighten things […]
Most traditions have to do with one of two categories, either food or fun. This tradition doesn’t fall into either one of them. Puzzled? Well, one of our traditions is to take the photo that we used for our Christmas cards and frame it in a really cute Christmas frame. The Christmas picture frames I usually get the week after Christmas, when all the seasonal stuff is on sale. Each year we pull out our cute pictures and decorate the house with them.
I was all prepared to write about the kids awesome experience donating books to our local library, but that just isn’t going to happen tonight. When we were ready to head over, I found out that the library was closed. We had just missed them by about 15 minutes. Bummer!
It seems like just yesterday I was cleaning out our master bedroom and now here we are getting ready to decorate for Christmas. I love to feel the warmth of a fully decorated house for Christmas. It brings so much joy every time I pull up to our house. However, getting the house decorated is another story altogether.
