I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite decorations at Christmas time is a snowy village full of festive buildings, happy people, and lights everywhere. I love the look of a miniature village set up in our house and always like to stop and stare when I see others who have decorated with a village as well. All the little people in these villages seem to be filled with the Christmas spirit. No problems to worry about, and only shopping, time with family and fun to be had. However, life just isn’t like those Christmas villages. Problems happen without notice, even at Christmas time. Not every building gets decorated for Christmas and for sure not everyone you run into is cheery. So how […]
I never thought of myself as having anxiety. I don’t get panic attacks, I’m not afraid of snakes or getting on stage, and isn’t that what signifies having anxiety? Actually that would be called an anxiety disorder. Having anxiety is actually very normal from time to time. Be it stress at work, medical emergencies, money or car problems, etc. All these are big issues anyone might have to deal with, and since they are out of the normal, it is completely normal for us to have anxiety while we are working through them. BUT, did you know that anxiety can be a big part of ADHD? Up until recently I would not have thought so. I re-visited my primary care doctor to talk […]
We are taking some time each week to focus on Getting into God’s Word. We have talked about devoting some time each day to God and how we make that time with God into a habit. We have talked about where to start reading and why starting in the Book of John is my first choice for anyone just starting to read the Bible regularly. Now that we have gone over all that, it is time to expand on our time with God. How do we expand on reading?
Starting today, every Wednesday through January we will be digging into God’s Word. On the agenda for today, finding time. It amazes me how we are able to find time for T.V and trips to the store to buy lots of things we really don’t need, but when it comes to spending time in God’s word, we somehow come back with saying there just is not enough time in the day to make it happen. Don’t think I am not guilty of this, because I sure am. So how can we go from excuses to habit?
Today was the day, finally. We had to postpone our library donation day because we misjudged when the library closes and missed them by about 15 minutes, earlier this week. We were all ready to have a great experience and see the joy in the librarian’s face as we handed over some much loved, great condition books. However, this experience was not quite what we had expected.
Yesterday, I talked about how many things have broke, don’t fit or can’t be found all within this past week. Well today was no exception. I was awakened to our youngest yelling at me to get up. It was really early for him to be up, so I asked him politely to stop yelling at me and tell me nicely what he needed. “There’s a fire!” I jumped up to see what was going on and then I saw it. Ah, my little one was at it again. He was trying so hard to be just like his big brother.
Cody came in earlier today, from doing chores outside, and mentioned to me that his winter boots really hurt his toes. Oh no, was my first thought, it can’t be. I just bought them at the end of last winter, 2 sizes bigger than he needed. But it was true. They are too small already, and this close to Christmas.
