Looking back on your childhood I am sure there are things about your education that you remember. For me having grown up in the Public School System I can say that something I remember vividly are all the worksheets. Some I loved, others we all would groan about. However, whether good or bad I remember those worksheets. When I stated homeschooling I wanted to give my kids a chance to engage with those same type of worksheets. Granted not as often as I did growing up, but none the less I wanted them to experience how fun-worksheets can help the material they are learning stick. I would spend a lot of time searching the internet for worksheets like what I grew up using. Some times I […]
Heirloom Audio Productions has done it again! Their newest audio drama, Captain Bayley’s Heir, is just wonderful. If you haven’t heard of Heirloom Audio before you are in for a treat. Keep reading to hear all about this wonderful Christian company and their newest project. New to my site or new to Heirloom Audio? Check out my first experience with this company in my post In the Reign of Terror – Heirloom Audio – Review. In this post I go into more detail about how this company is amazing for anyone, but especially those with Dyslexia. In general Heirloom Audio Productions offers a way for books to come alive. These audio dramas are much more than normal audio books as through the acting out of […]
For someone like myself with Dyslexia audio books are a way to not only learn from “reading” but also to enjoy books. Heirloom Audio Productions has taken the idea of audio books and gone way beyond that. Read on to see what their production of In the Reign of Terror offers, and how what they offer just might be a great fit for your homeschool or family. The “books” they offer are full out drama productions. Unlike audio books which are read by one person their productions are read by a new person for every character, just like seeing a play or watching t.v. By using so many different voices the characters really come alive. Besides just many voices, their productions also have sound effects […]
With summer here lots of people are thinking about swimming, vacations, and barbeques, however if you are a homeschool parent you most likely are also thinking about the upcoming school year. Today I get to share with you an amazing hands-on history curriculum we recently had a chance to work with from Home School in the Woods. This unit study, The Civil War, is part of their Time Travel American series. Before even opening up the curriculum I was excited about all the hands-on aspects, but also nervous. Using a hands on learning curriculum usually means that there are lots of things as a teacher to keep track of. What to print, what to prepare, what to teach, what to buy and how does it […]
Memoria Press is one of those homeschool companies that I had heard of, but never used any of their products before. So, when the opportunity came for me to be able to review their Iliad & Odyssey Complete Set, I got very excited. Not only could I try out one of their products, but it fell into both History and English subjects. With any new product the first thing I would ask someone would be, who is this product for, how does this program work, and does it work? So let’s dive into these questions and get you the answers you are looking for. Who is this product for? This product is meant for kids anywhere from middle school through high school who […]
Today I am bringing you a review of the By The Way Book Series. Specifically, Smoky Mountains ~ Here We Come!. This is actually a pretty awesome review, but also an ironic one. Ironic that a Dyslexic homeschool Mom is reviewing a read-aloud book series. However, after reading through this review I believe you will see that the By The Way Book Series is not a traditional book series. It is more like a really fun textbook, and that is something any homeschool mom would be happy to know about. So, what is this series and why am I so excited about it? This series of books from By The Way is written for parents to be able to bring a Christian worldview […]
Are you a Unit Study type of homeschooler? I honestly have not been. Change can be hard with my crew of ADHD kiddos. Before I was chosen to review Home School in the Woods’ HISTORY Through the Ages Project Passport World History Study of Ancient Greece, I was a bit hesitant. After looking over their website I got pretty excited about all that this unit study seemed to offer. The only thing left to do was dive into this study with the kids and see how it went. Today is the day you find out if this unit study worked or didn’t work for us. Ultimately, finding out if Home School in the Woods Project Passports would be a good fit for your own family. […]
The Adventure Begins? Well maybe not the full adventure, but at least this trip, the trip of starting a Blog. I have prayed, listened, waited, questioned and now here I am moving forward with what I believe God has in mind for our chaotic family, the adventure of blogging.
