You may be one to homeschool year round but for us, when July comes around we are on a long summer pause from school work. We take the few short months of nice weather to enjoy the outdoors and family. The 4th of July is one day we try to slow down, and spend time with family. Over the years we have done a lot of different things to celebrate but no matter what we planned, everything revolved around spending time with those we love. Recently my hubby, James, just moved to a new department with the government. New department means, new job, new manager, new co-workers, and new building. The new building is what we all have been excited about. Yes, the new job, manager and co-workers are exciting and great, but the new building being half the distance from home. Now that is something to get excited about.
As a Homeschooling Mom with very busy, active kids, I do not have much time to menu plan. I have, in the past, sat down for hours putting a week’s worth of meal plans together. I would go through my cabinets to find out what we have, pull out our recipe books and pick which meals we could eat with what we have, write out a shopping list of what I would need to buy, pull out coupons to match and then finally go shopping. It really did take hours and hours, with most weeks at about 4 hours per week’s worth of groceries. I decided about a year ago, enough was enough. Something had to give.
