It seems like just yesterday I was cleaning out our master bedroom and now here we are getting ready to decorate for Christmas. I love to feel the warmth of a fully decorated house for Christmas. It brings so much joy every time I pull up to our house. However, getting the house decorated is another story altogether.
Christmas is for kids, is something I hear on the radio this time of the year. Ultimately, I think there is a lot of truth in that saying. I spend so much time planning, shopping, wrapping and cooking, all so the kids have a great Christmas. Yes, I want Christmas to be great for myself, but in reality I do most of the prep for our kids. It dawned on me this year that if Christmas Day is ultimately for the kids, then why are we making every December day leading up to Christmas about them too?
Today is our official first work day back from our mini trip to visit family. I must say, it is so hard to get back into a routine. Not just for myself, but getting the kids back into a routine as well. For myself, getting into the swing of things again, after a break, is so overwhelming, thank you ADHD. Where do I start? This time around we have it a bit easier, since we are taking this week off from our homeschooling. There really isn’t a good way to ease back into it all, but we have found some tips that help, at least a little bit.
In our house, cleaning inevitably ends up making a much bigger mess…for the moment. Maybe it is that I take on too much at a time. Maybe we don’t work fast enough. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Honestly, it doesn’t much matter why when your house is in chaos.
