Most traditions have to do with one of two categories, either food or fun. This tradition doesn’t fall into either one of them. Puzzled? Well, one of our traditions is to take the photo that we used for our Christmas cards and frame it in a really cute Christmas frame. The Christmas picture frames I usually get the week after Christmas, when all the seasonal stuff is on sale. Each year we pull out our cute pictures and decorate the house with them.
Simple I know, but means so much. I am not the decorating kind of girl. I LOVE a nicely decorated house. I just have no clue as to how to pull it all together. Because of this, we really do not have many pictures decorating our house. Especially now with cameras being digital, we just do not get many pictures printed. Sad but true. Maybe one of these days I will get it together and be able to fill our walls with all those memories.
So every Christmas we bring out all those pictures from our past and line them up on our window sills. It brings back so many memories, and the kids love to see how little they use to be. There usually are talks about how we took the picture, which is always a process, since we take our own pictures. Who was pushing who, who picked out the pose, and how many pictures it took before we got the right one. I’m sure you know how it goes once memories are brought up.
This simple tradition is one that brings back a lot of memories and fills the house with years of special decorations, all at the same time. So it may not be something sweet to eat or something fun to do with family, but it sure does make the house feel cozy.
